Ignite Music Competition

Ignite is the Burlington Lions Club’s youth music competition and artist development pathway designed to identify, support, and elevate the next generation of local musicians.

Through live performance, professional mentorship, and real community-stage experience, Ignite provides young artists with the opportunity to grow their craft, build confidence, and perform in a professionally produced showcase environment.

The program culminates in Music Hall: IGNITE, where on May 22, finalists perform in a concert-style setting complete with full lighting and sound production. The winning performer or group earns a prize package including a featured performance slot on the Burlington Waterfront Festival’s Community Stage.

Ignite is open to youth performers, aged 13-19, across Burlington. Whether you’re a solo artist, part of a duo, or performing in a band, this is your opportunity to:

  • Perform in a professionally produced showcase

  • Receive real feedback from industry professionals

  • Build your confidence on stage

  • Connect with other young artists

  • Take your music to the next level

 

There is no fee to enter.

Who Should Apply? Ignite welcomes: Solo artists, Duos, Bands, All genres, Youth performers living or studying in Burlington.

What's up for grabs


A Real Audience Experience 

Music Hall: IGNITE is designed to feel aspirational and professional.  Finalists will have an opportunity to perform live on a stage, complete with lighting and sound and a live audience.


Recording TIme
Winners will also receive practice and recording time at B-Town Sound, giving you a chance to record professionally and take home a polished track or demo.


Professional Judging & Mentorship
Finalists perform in front of a professional judging panel led by representatives from Humber’s Music Program. Participants receive valuable feedback and guidance to support their growth as artists.


A Pathway to a Bigger Stage
The winning act earns a performance slot at the Burlington Waterfront Festival (formerly Sound of Music Festival) performing in front of a large public audience as part of one of the city’s signature events.

A Pathway to a Scholarship
Through IGNITE, young artists can learn more about Humber College’s Music Program and access an annual scholarship opportunity supported by the Burlington Lions Club. It is designed to open doors, build confidence, and help performers take the next step in their development.

How It Works

  1. Apply online and share your performer details and a short video performance.

  2. Our team reviews submissions and contacts selected performers with next steps.

  3. Finalists perform live at Music Hall: IGNITE in a professionally produced showcase environment.

  4. The winning performer or group earns a performance slot at the Burlington Waterfront Festival’s Community Stage along with other prizes detailed above.
