Clear vision shouldn’t be out of reach, but millions of people still live with vision challenges simply because they can’t access affordable eyeglasses. Through the Lions Recycle For Sight program, donated glasses are collected, sorted, and distributed so they can help people see more clearly, locally and around the world.

Donations also reduce waste: usable glasses are prepared for future distribution, while damaged pairs can be responsibly recycled through approved processes.

What to donate

  • Gently used prescription glasses and reading glasses

  • Sunglasses (prescription or non-prescription)

If they’re slightly worn or outdated, that’s okay — as long as they’re clean and usable

If you’re not sure whether a pair is acceptable, donate it anyway — recycling centres sort and triage what can be used and what should be recycled.

What happens to donated glasses?

Collected glasses are sent through the Lions eyeglass recycling program to an official Lions eyeglass recycling centre, where they’re sorted, processed, and added to inventory for distribution through vision initiatives. In Canada, the Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC) helps support this work by processing and supplying a range of glasses, including readers and non-prescription sunglasses.
